Demo-licious!

It’s easy to “sell” people on our foods when they get a taste of how good they are. I was recently on a weekend getaway with 6 close friends. While there, I walked in on a conversation a few of them were having about wanting to lose weight. I shared a bit about the HMR foods and diet plans. Then I remembered I’d brought some shakes with me and said, “How about I whip up a shake for you to try right now?!” I fired up the blender and whipped up a chocolate peanut butter shake. They LOVED it! I had so much more to show them, I couldn’t stop there. Two days later three of these women were sitting at my breakfast bar enjoying a myriad of my favorite recipes. Here’s what I did:

First, I told them to be sure and show up hungry, “Do NOT eat dinner before you come over or you’ll be sorry.” A half an hour before they were due to arrive I put an entrée with veggies in the oven; then, I prepared the Peach Cobbler I was going to serve at the end of my demo. The blender, shakes, entrée, fruit, potato, ice bucket, add-ins, and measuring cups and spoons were out on the kitchen counter ready to use.

I started my friends off with a sample of Super Spinach Lasagna baked in the oven and followed that up with Turkey Chili over a potato. I wanted them to see that they could get fancy with recipes or keep it super simple. The “mmm’s, ooo’s, and ahhh’s,” were probably heard by the neighbors. While they were enjoying their 3-bite sample of the entrees, I popped the Peach Cobbler in the oven, then prepared a vanilla shake and frozen berries smoothie made with a diet citrus soda. This light and refreshing shake was a nice contrast to the warm, savory entrees.

Knowing that my friends frequent Starbucks on a regular basis, I wanted them to taste my version of a Hot Peppermint Mocha. Saving calories while you save money?! What’s not to love about THAT?!

Next, I served a 70 Plus chocolate pudding with bananas and some fat free Cool Whip®. About that time the Peach Cobbler was ready to serve. My guests were full, to say the least. But, there’s always room for dessert, right?! More sounds of delight began emanating from my kitchen.

Their eyes grew bigger and their stomachs grew fuller with each recipe I served. They were very impressed with the flavors and variety you can create with the shakes and entrees. They had me explain how the diet plan works, so I told them about HMR at Home® and their options for the Healthy Solutions® and HMR Healthy Shakes® diets.

friends

This was a fun and easy way to introduce my friends to HMR and get them on their ways towards their weight-loss goals. I’m happy to report that they’ve already lost 4.5 to 10 lbs each in the first 2 weeks on their diets. I even get regular text messages from them letting me know the latest recipe they’ve created.

Maybe you’ve got someone in your life who wants to make some healthy changes. Why not have them over for a sampling of some of your favorite HMR recipes? Or, maybe you already have. Has anyone done a demo for friends/family?

Let’s hear your stories of sharing HMR.

Time to re-post this blog. It's way too valuable to hide in 2011!

Sandi, it sounds like you have so much fun with these demos. One of these days I am going to do something like this and follow your lead.

I had a friend visiting recently and I kept making strawberry "mousse" in the food processor the whole weekend - by the end of the trip she was begging me to make them for her too!

Sandi, I wish that I was there!. It is true that there is nothing quite like demonstrating just how tasty and easy-to-use the HMR foods are.

I brought my blender home for the holiday weekend--so glad I did! I was able to make a double shake every morning and got my sisters and parents to taste a strawberry, chocolate, banana, peanut butter shake ;) At first they though I was crazy for carrying a blender in my suitcase, but I think after they tasted how good the shake was they understood why I did it!

Sandi, I've never done anything quite as elaborate as your dinner--what a treat for your friends! Great idea!
