MaryP36's Success Story:

I've been overweight all of my life, but in the last year or two I noticed that things were really getting harder - like putting on shoes. I either had to wear slip-ons or velcro closures because I couldn't reach well enough to buckle or tie shoes. So I decided that even though I HATE dieting, I had to drop some tonnage. I didn't want to be an invalid that my husband had to take care of. I talked to my Dr. and joined HMR, but I only told my husband and one person at work. I'm kind of a loaner anyway. I eat at my desk a lot. No one noticed for the longest, and that was really helpful for me. I hate to be on display or be watched and judged and asked about progress all of the time. I can't say that it's easy, but as long as I'm able to focus on the present and not think about how much further I still have to go, I do OK. I'm going to go off of decision-free and on maintenance for awhile because I've started craving veggies and fruits. I figure I'll do that for 3-4 months and try decision-free again to lose more. I still need to lose 100 lbs to get to MY goal. To have a good BMI, I'd probably have to lose 130 - 140 lbs. So I'm still on the journey, but I CAN tie my shoes now, and I'm down a few clothing sizes. My biggest struggle is PA, which I've never managed to get up to par with, but I'm trying to take the "just think about the present" approach to that now, and I'm walking around the building at work. One lap is 4/10 mi. I try to do three during the work day. Good luck to everyone! I'm too private to put pictures of me on the site - y'all don't take offense.
