This Fall, RESTART Your Weight Loss

get back on track image

You know you have to do it when the jeans that fit you back in May don't fit now. With the change of seasons, maybe it’s also time to RESTART and get serious about getting your healthy lifestyle back on track.

Here's how:

  1. Do your research – Find out when the next HMR classes start. Pick a date.
  2. Check your stock of HMR Shakes, Entrees and Cereal. If you have some – make a shake!
  3. Check your inventory of fruits and veggies – fresh, frozen and canned. Go shopping. Today.
  4. Write down your short-term (daily/weekly) and your long-term goals. Check your calendar for upcoming social events/trips and challenges. Be mindful of your challenges and muster the determination to find new solutions.
  5. Drink your shake. (See step #2.)
  6. Tell your family/friends and co-workers you are planning a Restart. Invite them to join you. Ask them to support you.

If this is your first restart to HMR, know going into it that it will feel and be different from joining HMR the first time. Make sure you are as open to changing your behaviors as you were then. Make sure you are willing to try new things (remember, everything was new the first time, too). Don't get stuck in the rut of doing the same thing over and over and don’t limit yourself to thinking you’ll just do what you did last time. If you gained back some weight, you probably need to learn some new skills.

Experiment! Right from day #1, try new recipes (my current favorite is HMR Vanilla and frozen raspberries). Try new fruits and veggies. Try new types of physical activity.

A successful “Restarter” said this about her experience, "These last three weeks, my Restart has been similar to a slow burn rather than a roaring fire. Like rekindling a relationship - tentative, cautious, slow to trust but forging ahead with the desire to 'make it work.' LOL."

That was about a month ago. Recently she has been talking about her goal to lose 30 more pounds so she can compete with her rowing team next spring! The fire is roaring now!

Living a healthy lifestyle opens up a world of opportunities. But like most opportunities, timing and intention meets hard work and preparation. Be ready and willing to do what it takes to make it work again. And don't put off until tomorrow... whatever you can get started on today!

If you have fallen off track - RESTART NOW! By the way, how does that shake taste? When you’re done with that – how about going out for a walk? I'm going out myself! Right... after I squeeze... into... these... jeans!

Great inspiration for me, I've been struggling to get back on since school started back up (college this semester is ROUGH). It's tougher than most people think, especially people who have never dieted before who say, "Just get back on, it's not hard." I started focusing on positive things as well in a blog, posting something positive about my day every day, and am thankful that when I'm in a rush between work and school, an entree doesn't take much time to prepare in the microwave. Thanks, Alison.
